A Long Term approach Reaps Long Term Success Story. Since 2006 West Bromwich Albion Youth Academy have operated a development centre south of Birmingham.
The Centre was first kicked off in Ledbury under the guidance of Vince Hurn, with 3 age groups and Goalkeeper specific coach. After 2 years the centre moved to Gloucester with Paul Gardiner as Centre Manager.
Since the inception of the centre in Ledbury which the current Welsh U16’s Captain Tyler Roberts and Daniel Meredith Scotland attended through to our latest signing of Max and Mamadou The development of talented players south of Birmingham has always been a priority for West Bromwich Albion Youth Academy. Year on year we have produced players for the academy at West Bromwich Albion, this total now stands at over 16 players, with further 20+ players also signing for Football League Clubs via our exit policy. Players such as Oliver Brown, Ewan Mountjoy, George Bourne, Luke Williams, Lewis Spurrier, Matt Tiley (GK), Toby Holland, signing to Birmingham City, Wolves, Cheltenham Town, Bristol City and Swindon Town, respectively.
The Development Centre currently comprises of 8 age groups running from U7 through to U15 and retains a GK coach for specific GK Sessions. Training takes place twice a week in Gloucester with matches on Saturdays for age ranges U7 through to U15. The whole ethos of the centre is based around constant improvement, hard work and desire.
The Centre in Gloucester is a vital component of our academy and constantly adds value to what we do.
